Francesca Bihet is a PhD student at Chichester University. Her thesis Folklore, Fighting and Fairies explores the changes in the treatment of fairies by Folklore Society members and how far these reflect wider academic and folkloric trends. It covers the era from the Society’s foundation in 1878 until the eve of WW2. She grew up in Jersey and recently contributed a chapter on Channel Island fairies for an edited collection, Magical Folk: British and Irish Fairies: 500 AD to the Present.
