Michael Smith is an historian and translator from Cheshire. He studied history at the University of York and printmaking at the Curwen Print Study Centre near Cambridge. His translation of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight was published in 2018 by Unbound. He is currently crowdfunding his translation of another fourteenth century masterpiece, King Arthur’s Death, rated as second only to Sir Gawain in the poems of the Alliterative Revival.
